For the intellectual interest essay, can I write about things not related to subjects in school? I'm really not sure what to write about. People I've talked to are writing about chemistry, or history, but none of those really interest me. I find intellectual interest in things outside of school through my independent reading on things that I can actually apply. I read books on real estate development because I've bought investment properties, and books on entrepreneurial aspects. I like to read about things I can apply in life. I'm applying to CALS for AEM..I'm not sure how it would look if I wrote about those things. ANy advice?

Write honestly. .. don't make up an interest in History if you really aren't interested in it. Be you

Thanks, I will. I'm going to write about that then I guess. Did you apply ED or RD? What did you write about?

Applying RD . . . and everything in my app kind of links together with my intellectual interests in biology, and my supplement essays were about that

I think you should write about interests in CALS so it doesn't look like you're only applying for the instate tuition...do you live in NY?

I think if I talk about my intellectual interests in economics / real estate development / entrepreneurial books...it'd tie in with my extracurriculars and drive for business...I guess it'll work out well

I'm from NY..there is instate tuition? Didn't know that...I'm not applying CALS for that..I'm applying there for AEM because of their great undergrad biz program.

Oh, if it's for AEM that's fine. If you were like a bio major I'd tell you to be careful, because A+S has bio too.
