I have assigned my Teacher Recommendations and have been contacting my teachers but they have not been responding to my emails and common app continues to say that the rec has not been started. The deadline for all my schools is tomorrow! What do I do? Do colleges still accept teacher recommendations after the deadline? even if it shows that they have yet to start it? Is it my fault if the teachers fail to do their part in time?

Today is Dec 31 and most high schools are on break, so your emails may not be answered until your school resumes classes. Hopefully, you gave your teachers plenty of time to write a recommendation for you, so that they can upload it once they receive their notification email when school start again.

If you have your teacher at least a month to write the evaluations then it is not your fault. Make sure that you have all other application materials submitted. Most, if not all, colleges and universities have a “grace period” of 1-2 weeks in which they accept late materials especially materials like evaluations that are out of the students control. If you need a little peace of mind I recommend emailing each schools admissions office and asking them if their is any penalty for a late evaluation. I did this with one school and they said it was fine.

Good Luck!

Usually schools do not mind if the recommendations are submitted after the deadline of the application. Malixie is correct, email the school to let them know about the issue and most likely there wont be any problem.
