Can colleges see what time you submitted your application, or just the date? I applied to Stanford Jan 1 around 11:45 pm my time (Central)...I realized afterwards that the Common App uses Eastern time, and it said my application was submitted on Jan 2. California is Pacific time so technically I got it in on time...does anybody know if 1) colleges can see the exact time you sent it in, not just the date, and 2) If Stanford use PST?

even if colleges see what time you turn it in, i doubt it would affect anything unless you turned it in past their deadline.

don’t worry, you’re fine. Stanford’s deadline is 11:59 Jan 1, Pacific time. not sure if common app tells you that you submitted it on jan 2 because they use eastern time.

I was wondering about the time thing because it says I submitted it Jan 2, but if colleges can see the actual time I submitted it that would be good for me because then they’ll see that it actually was before the deadline (their time, PST). If they can’t see the time they might think I submitted it like the afternoon of Jan 2 or something. So…do you think it’s ok that it says Jan 2 on Common App…like will Stanford know this? Sorry if this is unclear, I’m sort of stressing haha.

Thanks for answering!

The Common App Online system is on Eastern Time. Deadlines for colleges are typically considered in the local time zone for that college.

The admissions office at Stanford is full of smart people. They know that January 2 at 12:45 a.m. EST is the same as January 1, 9:45 p.m. PST.

Take a deep breath and relax! You are going to be just fine.

My question is if any of you guys have gotten your application downloaded by them?

oh my god this is so comforting, i love living in an EST time zone. i feel like I am ahead of the rest of the country. :)
