Common App vs. NonCommon App

Do schools which take both the common app and their own, special app really prefer their own? Loyola and Villanova both send out their own applications, but I’d rather use my essay which pertains to the common app questions, I think it’s better and I’m lazy and don’t want to write another  I’ve heard schools give preference to students who use the special apps, because they look more sincere/interested in that particular school. Does anyone know if that has any truth in it? Thanks!

Officially, no. However, I can only imagine it does have a subconscious effect (since Villanova scans its forms.)
