Hi im a 11 grader just checking the common app right now, so my most outstanding EC(so far) is that through 500-600 hours I have made a school app and it was so well percieved that I made it for other schools in my district as well. But how do I show that in my commonapp because the place to actually describe an EC is so small and i dont have enough room to write it, is there a page that expands on the EC? im new to the common app thanks

You can write more information in the “Additional Information” space in the “Writing” section of the Common App. Remember to keep it as brief and to-the-point as possible.

Btw they will wipe the database at the end of the year so don’t put actual information on your account now. But yeah ^ additional information, or sometime supplements allow you to expand on an extracurricular activity in ~150 words or so.

I would suggest you list the EC in the EC section, and say “See Additional Information” in that teeny tiny space. Then in additional information, put a header that says “<ec name=”">", and use bullets underneath to concisely provide information to summarize what you want them to know. You don’t even need to use complete sentences. Something like:
- Developed app used by my high school and X other schools in our district. Used by <something quantitative="" --="" 100="" faculty="" members,="" over="" 1000="" students,="" 50="" administrators,="" etc="" if="" you="" can="" figure="" that="" out="">
- App provides functionality to <blah, blah,="" briefly…="">
- Written in <blah, blah,="" …="">
- Over 600 hours spent.
- Currently working on enhancement to <blah, blah=""></blah,></blah,></blah,></something></ec>
