Someone told me that by using the common app schools think youre not genuinely interested. Is this true? is it better to use the schools app?

it maybe a TINY bit of an advantage to use their application
but i mean
its not gonna make much of a difference
i would think that the time you save by using the common app, you can use to work on ur essay

The colleges sign an agreement saying that they will treat applicants using the college's application and the common application will be viewed equally.

I know that Harvard only accepts the common application, plus their own supplement.

And using the common application doesn't mean that you aren't interested. It just means that you can't take a huge break from your cutting edge research, including curing AIDS.

Personally, though, I wouldn't use the common application. I just don't like it very much.

If a college accepts the Common App then that means they don't mind if you use it. Some colleges only accept the Common App.

bummmmpppppppppppp

I personally don't like the Common App, but for some schools, it's free to apply if you use it on-line. In those cases, I might go for it. I'm trying to avoid it at all costs, however.

The thing I really don't like about it is the intended major line. My major has different names at different schools. It's Medieval Studies at some, Classical & Medieval Studies at others, Medieval and Renaissance Studies at still others, and at some schools, I need to individualize. The Common App is very problematic for me in that area.
