Common App word limit?

On one of the questions where they ask to elaborate on an activity, I used around 250 words (150 word limit) but well under the character count. Do you think colleges will care?

250 words over 150 words is well over the limit by 40%. Would you want to be caught going over 25 in a school zone?

Anyway, I am sure you can do something to trim it -- I had 160, then noting some of the writing sounded cheesy, reworded it with a side effect of bringing it down to 150, and further re-editing actually brought it under the limit (with the ability to exploit adding several more words in the right places).

There is bound to be quite a few areas where you can merge several little words (usually a verb phrase) into one word.

Mine was originally about 260, like yours. It's 200 now. i think i'm going to leave it. But I don't know if I should or not.

caught going over 2 in a school zone...lol that's classic.

Like galoisien, I "uncheesed" mine from about 170 to 149.
