i was reading the topic on the personal statement and it says:
Please reflect on your reasons for considering a transfer. Why are you transferring? Why was your most recent college not a good fit?
What do you know now that you didn’t know during your first college search process?

so basically it's asking us to bad-mouth our current school?

bump, did you guys bash about the inefficient and clueless TAs/TFs?

I do not think that it's a good idea for you to do that. When you go for a job interview (or any interview for that matter), you would not bad - mouth your last or current employer. If you do, you could seriously hurt yourself in the running for the job because the employer will figure that if you don't like the job that you will do the same thing to them.

It's kind of like the same thing in college admissions. They don't want to hear "I hate such - and such University because...". They want to know why you want to transfer. Why is your current college not a good fit? Do you want a college that has more professors teaching than TA's? Do you want to major in something that your current college doesn't have? Do you feel like you are not being challenged enough? You need a better reason for wanting to transfer than "my college sucks and your college is so much better!"

If you are transferring, there is something that you obviously know now that you didn't know when you went off to college the first time. Think about what that is, and then apply it to your reasons for wanting to transfer. They don't want someone who will bad - mouth their current institution. Tell them TACTFULLY why you want to leave college X and why college Y is a better fit. It will help you alot in the long run!
