Does anybody know when Rochester is putting the writing supplement/ questions on the common app? Every other college I'm applying to already has theirs up... thanks!

I was wondering that myself… I heard “by September” for all colleges somewhere, but I’m not sure if that’s true. If it gets to September and it’s still not up, I plan on contacting the admissions office. If I end up doing that, I can let you know what they say.

astrobiomajor,

The Writing Supplement just went live today. The prompt that you will be asked to respond to is as follows:

The University of Rochester offers many rare advantages, building from our “Meliora” (“ever better”) motto that has inspired generations of scholars, professionals, and artists. Describe what’s leading you to apply, and what kind of “Meliora” experiences you want to have here at Rochester and beyond.

Sorry about the delay!

Tyler

TSocash,

The Common App website is still telling me that the writing supplement is “not yet available.” As this is probably an individual issue, would you recommend that I contact Common App support or the admissions office?

Thank you!

LAMuniv,

You are correct. I didn’t realize that I was looking at an “Admin-only” version of the Common App. I just created a regular student account and noticed that the supplement is not yet available. Once our changes to the Common Application are approved the Writing Supplement will become visible to everyone. Sorry for the confusion! No call to the Common Application or Admissions Office is necessary. We are hoping that these changes will go live by early September.

Hopefully the prompt that I posted is helpful. For those of you that are eager, you can think about the prompt as our Common App updates navigate the approval process.

Tyler

Thanks for the information! Glad to know it’s not an individual issue.

Thank you TSocash!
