@thisisfurious: Describe if you feel that your activity needs description.

@xoxo_pr0ud: Nope. Just put in the date. Colleges will wait until the final deadline to see any change in your scores, further you are telling them that you do plan to retake the test on such-n-such date, so they will wait for the scores from such-n-such date.

@Astrophysics_07: No. If you would have continued the piano, and have been playing it for 7-8 years, then it’s wonderful.

hmm, am i able to change things that i put on my app for different schools? i have a test score that i want to show all but 2 of my schools for interesting reasons, and im wondering if by submitting my app its locked and i cant do anything about it.

btw, im applying to both of those schools early if that changes anything.

additional information(above). Do we have to send a personal statement and resume with our commmon app? Or do you put a personal statement in the additional information part?

You can, if you wisht to. You can put anything you think is important for the colleges to understand you better, in the additional info section.

The terms “personal statement” and “long essay” or “essay” are used interchangeably on CC. The personal statement is the 500 or so word essay that is a required part of the Common App.

You do not need to put another personal statement in the Additional Info section. In fact, it is frowned upon. Admissions officers don’t need another essay to read, and most likely would not appreciate it.

Do others agree that including the “Additional Information” is frowned upon (other than, for example, to disclose that you are the legal guardian of your younger siblings and have to work 40 hours a week to support them)? Completing that section is the only “open” item on my son’s Common App. I didn’t know if it would look lazy to not fill it in…

Please fill in whatever you feel completes you as a person and would help the colleges understand you more in context! Kudos missypie for being such a caring sister!!

I have a question: If you are applying to 8 different schools that use the common application, how are you supposed to get the two teacher recs to eight different colleges? Do you duplicate the teacher recs for all the colleges or something?

Since I’m applying online can I submit the forms in via mail or does my teacher have to do it online? I’m so confused about this whole recommendation process. Someone please help. Thanks in advance.

Referencing post #1117 - I just asked Common App Tech support today how to print the teacher recommendation form with the Common App ID number on it (like Stanford requires)- here is their response:

You need to “invite” them first and then they can opt out of continuing online, at which point you will be able to download the form with your app ID on it.

This has been a great thread, but is so long that finding individual Q&As is difficult. I’m closing it, but please feel free to post questions in their own threads in this forum.
