Is there no upper limit on the common app essay this year? It only says 250 words MINIMUM.

isn’t it crazy that we’re actually filling out college applications? time flies..

Definitely, Ephemeral, I can’t believe we’re actually rising seniors and really in the midst of the college admissions process. I so clearly remember thinking back in March of 2007 when I was registering for the Chem SAT II (my first SAT) about how far I had to go and how much I was looking forward to college. Now, hopefully in 6 months (ED) but maybe in about 9 we’ll know where we’re going to college. Crazy…

Was the commapp this difficult last year?? Why can’t we more accurately describe activities, etc?..

I’m thinking of just sending in paper apps, this is ridiculous…

I’m kinda glad I supposedly have to send in paper apps

So glad I only have to do the common app for two schools on my list. This is really freakin annoying. Especially the ECs.

for the extracurriculars is anyone having a problem with not having enough space to describe the activity

I think we need to send in mass-complaints to the commonapp.. These changes are ridiculous. I just talked to college-bound people and it was not like this last year…

is this different from the priority application?

I think you guys should all just wait a couple weeks until they fix the problems.

^ But it’s so much more fun to complain!

The 2008-09 Common App Online has triple the space available to “describe your activity” compared to the 2007-08 application.

College supplements go live sporadically throughout the summer, as the individual colleges complete their annual updates of these forms. It’s always been this way. However, almost all of them should be live by Labor Day, two months in advance of the earliest ED/EA/REA deadline. Two years ago 8 were live on July 1. Last year 12 were live on July 1. This year about 20 were live on July 1.

If you attended an academic summer program that doesn’t have a CEEB code, just use the “lookup” feature to select a “no CEEB code” option.

The Common App Online does not host the Washington University Supplement. They host their own form, on their own website.

As the error message indicated, you cannot print preview until all the required fields are completed (with the exception of the writing samples / essays).

Correct.

Parent educational Background questions are required before submission unless the parent is checked “unknown.”

There is no upper limit, and the same was true last year.
