@tola2015 the celebrity lifestyle is a very difficult one indeed. maintaining your position on the A list is stressful. but seriously i was at a youth conference the past weekend down in san diego and i wasn’t on my phone and it made me lose so many fans what the heck i have a life.
but all that aside, idk which essay to choose. im stuck between 3 so i figured i may as well write them and then choose.
@SammyxB hahahaha im glad i did! lol, my misadventures in high school are definitely gonna land me into a good college.

People actually play the Kim Kardashian game?

@Esat936 i didnt ask for any of this to happen…it just did and now im an A lister.

@Esat936 you don’t have to like her ( I don’t) to play the game. It’s really all about self-control; you must know when to cut yourself off.
@rllyrlyodd I am jealous that you made it to the A-list. I always ran out of energy, so I couldn’t even maintain a boyfriend :)) :)).

I going to go attempt to finish off this last common app paragraph.

@tola2015 its okay, all those guys are tools anyways LOL
this common app asking for my sister’s info she’s like 12 cmoooooon. it never ends, i got exasperated when it asked for my parents info and closed it lol

Where would I put flyin programs in?

I hope I don’t end up in school with any of you.

XD @Esat936 what colleges you plan to apply to

I’m wondering how much to include in the personal statement…filling out the parents section is really weird because technically I live with my stepmom but she is not my legal guardian. I want a way to word this eloquently, anyone else freaking out about every box they check? What are other people using the “Additional Information” text box for?

@textocali

“Additional information” is just anything you feel may not be covered in the common app or your essays.

Honestly I don’t think you living with your step mom is a big deal, unless you feel it is.

Will you be applying to U Chicago? If so, how are you getting on with the supplemental essay?

@Esat936

Yes! U Chicago is my top choice. I part love, part hate their supplementals. They are all a little bizarre. I’ve been keeping a journal since they released the topics and have been writing ideas for the ones that I am most interested in. I still have no idea which one I am going to use though. I was at first leaning towards the “Holy Trinity” topic but I’m worried that its the easiest pick. I’m constantly fighting myself trying to decide if I should do one that I feel really comfortable with or one that I can write something really abnormal and unexpected. I’m probably not the only one who feels like this! What’s your take thus far?

@textocali

I’ve been thinking about it since the prompts were released, though I’ve lately just been focused on the common app essay. I think I’ll do the one about the untranslatable words. Don’t think the Holy Trinity is the easiest choice, I myself can’t think of anything to write about that one. So if you feel that is the one you could have the most success with, go for it.

If you want an essay reader I’d be glad to help and would appreciate it if I could get back feedback on mine when I do write it. These essays are very challenging. Have you read any of the essays from past years? This is one that I really like:

@Esat936

Yes, I’d really like to exchange essays, I currently don’t have anyone to read mine and I would definitely be willing to do the same. I’ll check out the links as well, thanks! I’ll PM my email.

bump, keeping this alive.

Hey guys, do you think it will look bad if I fill up all ten spaces on the activities section on the app? Will it look like prefer quantity over quality? It’s just that I do a lot of stuff out of school and I’m pretty involved and committed to most of them.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if I should use the “Additional Information” section to make note of my family’s extenuating financial circumstances? My father has been unemployed for three years, and we lived below low-income guidelines from my 9th-11th grade years in high school. Should I explain this myself or leave it to my guidance counselor? Will it even help my application, or will I just sound whiny and desperate for pity?
Thanks

“Please provide an answer below if you wish to provide details of circumstances or qualifications not reflected in the application. You may enter up to 650 words.”

what is this section for? I’m confused.

@lufthansas leave it to the guidance counselor.

is the ten slots for the EC on common app the only EC the colleges will see? i want to put more than ten EC’s . is there another place i can put more EC’s, like on naviance?

@An1100345 you can list additional ECs in the additional information section, but I would be hesitant to do so because it is a good indication that you aren’t dedicated to all of the extracurricular activities you have written down. Only list activities that you have been involved in and have meaningful experiences from.
