I heard universities like Duke and Columbia had their RD deadlines extended because of common app glitches.
Does ANYONE know what the hell is going on?
I tried searching for this stuff but could literally only find ONE post that said Columbia extended theirs, and Duke extended theirs to Jan 6, the only official one.
Were you able to submit your application by the deadline? I had to submit mine late because common app crashed. Since I was able to submit, I should be okay right? I’m not sure if I should call and draw attention to what I did…
Also, do you mind sharing where you found the post on Columbia’s extension? I know Common App posted on facebook and twitter saying that our applications will be considered on time when we are able to submit. I’m not sure if the individual colleges are really allowing this though.
Sorry those two first links above were NOT the one I read: Here is the one that actually talked about Columb’s extension.
Erm…
I can’t seem to find that one thread.
But basically, it was ONE person who said Yes, Columbia extended to Jan 6. However, the link he provided to columbia’s website did not even say that. I’m not sure if he was confused or what.
Duke’s Undergraduate Admissions’ website does not indicate any extension to the RD deadline . . . where do such spurious rumors begin and why didn’t you check the website before you posting?
I’m pretty sure Duke RD was actually extended to Jan. 5th. I’m not applying there, but I got an email from their undergraduate admissions office on the 2nd saying that the application deadline was extended. Here is a copy-paste of what was said in the email:
"If the holiday season was a little too busy for you to finish your application to Duke, we have good news.
We’ve extended the application deadline until Monday, January 5, to give you the weekend to finish and submit it. And as always, we’re happy to receive school materials after you’ve submitted your application, so you can use next week to request materials from your counselor and teachers.
Here’s to a good start to 2015 and a great conclusion to your high school career! "
