When applying for Tulane, would it be a disadvantage for someone looking to receive their dean's or other merit scholarship to use the common application?
I'm very tempted, because I already have my common app finished, and using it would mean I don't have to re-fill stuff out, plus I wouldn't have to pair down my 650 word essay (on Tulane's application, it asks for 250-500 words).

Thanks!

no, it shouldn't hurt your chances

All schools that are members of the Common Application organization certify to not discriminate against those who use it.

so would you still get a quick admissions decision by using the common app?

Yep, no problem with the Common App. Mine used it when invited to apply, and got in within 3 weeks, and a very generous initial scholarship unsolicited. She's considering it now, when earlier not even on her radar. While some think less of it, I'm impressed with their aggressive planning, marketing and approach to transforming. So little ever happens in staid, stale higher education which proclaims "innovation" and are about as innovative as building castles in England.
