Common Application GPA Question-Help needed!

My GPA is a 4.0/4.0 unweighted and my school reports this on my transcript; however, my 4.4490/5.0 is also reported (weighted). Using the unweighted calculation, my rank is 1/245, but using the weighted 4.4490, my rank is 12/245. Even though I got all A's in the hardest course load at my high school, I took extra classes that diluted my weighted GPA. I'm not sure which one would portray me in a more positive light.

Is there any preference for one over the other in the self-reported GPA section of the Common App? Any advice? Thanks!

bump

Let’s see what the instructions for the common app says:

Basically, follow whatever is reported on your transcript.
