i was wondering if I could get some help with the common application.

under parents' colleges & degrees, I put my dad's university as "University of " and my mom's university as " University." My dad is an engineer and my mom a math major(currently a hs math teacher). However, in the app, it asks for CEEB codes for both schools and I dont know what to list since they are both colleges in India. I tried to search up the CEEB code but it says "0 results found." Do I just list the colleges as blank or what?

Also, my dad is currently a subsititute for a school county. Should I list his profession as "other"? or teacher? Because it is not a steady income obviously.
And does it hurt to list my ethnicity as Asian-India or is it okay?

Ask your college counselor about this issue. I don’t really know what to say, is there an option that says out of US? Maybe those codes apply only for US colleges =

For the school situation, put 00000. My father and Mother both went to schools in China, so they also don’t have CEEB codes. If you look at the directions carefully, it’ll tell you what to do to get the 00000.

“Also, my dad is currently a subsititute for a school county. Should I list his profession as “other”? or teacher? Because it is not a steady income obviously.”

What is he usually when he’s not substituting?

Are you actually Indian? Because if you want to put that in solely on the basis that your parents went to college in India, no. Just no.

^To Op, same situation. Both my parents went to college out of the states. I submitted my common app the other day, and 0000 is the only way to get out of this.

hey HLZ, yeah he’s actually an engineer but recently laid off… and yes im actually indian… so i should put “asian-india” on the app right?

I don’t know what to do about the employment part, but yes, if you are Indian, you should but Asian - Indian if you want to. Race identification isn’t required on the common app, though, so not putting anything in is always an option.

hey man, one more thing… is it okay to put myself down on the common app under additional info that i am a first gen? because i have a friend whose mom went to school in bangladesh, but is a doctor at georgetown hospital in the states… so obviously her credentials/degree is valid(after taking that one test to get into US medicine of course)… HES part of the college partnership program that’s designed specifically for “first-gen”… if hes considered and qualified as first gen, then couldnt I put that down too?(even though its too late to join the CPP program)
