Common Application Question!!???

<p>In the Common Application portion, it states:</p>

<p>"Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve.</p>

<p>Note: The Common Application essay should be the same for all colleges. Members that wish to review custom essay responses will request them on their Supplement form. Your essay will appear on a separate sheet at the end of the application."</p>

<p>Ok, I get that but for the University of Chicago supplement, it has two parts:</p>

<p>Required Question 1. How does the University of Chicago, as you know it now, satisfy your desire for a particular kind of learning, community, and future? Please address with some specificity your own wishes and how they relate to Chicago.</p>

<p>Question 2. Please tell us why you are planning to leave (or have already left) your current college or university.</p>

<p>Wouldn't having the personal essay and the two questions within the U of C supplement be ultimately redundant? How exactly does the personal essay differ with the questions? Furthermore, for universities such as Dartmouth, the personal essay is the ONLY essay. How am I supposed to customize it?</p>

<p>The general essay for all schools should give broad reasons: Social / academic / anything else you can think of.</p>

<p>Question #1 for the supplement is asking why you want to attend U Chicago and how attending will help further your future goals etc. </p>

<p>Question #2 is asking for more specifics as to why you transferring. E.g. the personal essay is supposed to be rather broad, while this essay is supposed to be rather specific.</p>
