Common Application Question

For the common application main essay (250-500 words) and the personal essay (1000 characters) should I count with or without spaces? Is it okay to be like 80 words over limit on the mian essay?

What personal essay are you talking about? The 1000 character limit is for brief elaboration of an extra curricular activity.

Spaces are counted on the 1000 character ec answer. My rule is keep it under 520 words for the essay

As the other posters mentioned, spaces are only counted in the 1000 characters. That essay is supposed to be a short, one or two paragraph explanation about an extracurricular activity you have done. The personal statement is 500 words, spaces excluded. I know how hard it is to keep it in the limit, since I am also applying. I am going to submit a 520 word essay since I don’t see anything I can cut. If you find something in yours, however, cut it. Good Luck!
