Common Application Question

Can I list a paid internship as an extracurricular instead of work experience?

I have pretty lacking EC’s and an okay amount of work experience. I was an intern at a Harvard library throughout my entire junior year (through a program exclusively for my high school that finds positions for a few students each year) and I'd imagine that it would look better on my application as an EC. Would it be really shady of me to put it down as one and not mention that it was paid? Or are internships just always work experience?

Thanks

Since it is paid, it's work, I believe. If you lack ECs, but have work experience, it kind of balances out. Both take time. Neither is better than the other - it just shows you're doing something outside of school.

I'd put it in work. I guess you could elaborate on it somewhere else if you think colleges will better understand its importance.

Yea, just put it in work........

A paid internship is work. I echo the previous posters' responses.

Okay work it is. Thanks a lot.
