Common Application questions ?

Hi,
I'm applying to transfer to Syracuse University, so i have these questions that i wish someone would help me with..

1- i'm asked to " List all secondary schools you have attended ", while i'm an international student, i graduated from high school back in my country, so what should i put in this section ? should i leave it empty ?

2-Academics: it asks for ,
- Secondary School Grades
- ACT Tests
- SAT Reasoning Tests
- TOEFL/IELTS
- AP/IB/SAT Subject Tests
- Current Year Courses
- Honors
so should i leave the first 5 empty? because i didn't take any of the first 5 test ?
how about the current year courses ? i attended spring 2012 and am currently taking classes " fall 2012 " , but i didn't pass two of the courses back in 2012, should i include it ? or just leave the whole thing empty because the transcript will show everything ?

also, as i said i graduated from high school back in my country, so should i leave this section empty ? and i'm a Phi Theta Kappa Honor member in college ? i also received a Certificate of Academic Achievement last semester... dose these count ? if not, where should i include them in my application ?

3-for Extracurricular Activities And Work Experience, i only volunteered to translate for families who doesn't speak English, does this count ? i didn't do any other volunteer work

4-for the short essays,
Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences in the space below (1000 character maximum).

i wrote this, so can someone please critique it ? or how to edit it to sound even better ?

"In the past four years that I have spent in the United States, I have met many non-English speakers who were having a hard time communicating with people. As a matter of fact, it affects their lives on a daily basis due to the fact that language is the main method of human communication. As a result I decided to use both my English and Arabic languages skills to volunteer helping people who are non-English speakers.

An example of one time I did this was when sitting in the waiting room at the hospital, with two parents and their only child. We were waiting for the nurse to call for their child’s turn to see the doctor. The mother was so worried about her child, who had a high temperature. After a couple of minutes passed, their turn came and we entered the examination room. While the doctor was trying to speak with the mother, I said “I’ll translate for them, they don’t speak English “. At that time, the doctor started asking the mother questions about her child's condition, and I was translating for both. I felt like an important piece of an equation. An equation consisting of the worried mother, the sick innocent child, the doctor and me. Seeing the mother reassured about her son’s condition was great payment for my translation efforts."

for the Personal Essay in the same section, is it different than the Short Answer Questions on the supplements ? and if its different, should the one on the supplements section be formed like an essay, or points ?

i also dropped couple of classes, failed one, so where should i mention the reasons for dropping and failing these classes?

i apologize for any grammar/spelling/other mistakes, i wish i would get an answers for these questions, because i don't know where to get help with the application !

Thanks !

You really have a ton of questions and I suggest you contact Syracuse to help you.
But this my shot at your questions.

Yes, put in your secondary school. Why wouldn’t you? Doesn’t matter how long ago you went.

I don’t see how you could apply to any college with having taken entrance exams of some type. So ask Syracuse what you need to submit as an international student. You may need to take them before you apply.

This is more than just work or volunteering. It could be sports, clubs, interests like photography etc. It is a chance to show them more than just your grades.

I believe the 1000 characters max includes spaces so your paragraph is over 200 characters too long. I thought it sounded fine really. Try and paste it in the common to see if it fits. Edit it shorter if it does not.

Yes the Personal essay is a separate essay. It is supposed to be between 250-500 words.

The essays in the supplements are not the same ones from the common app. Those essays usually ask a question you are to answer. Write the answers as an essay or short paragraph depending on what they ask for. Do not use bullets.

You can explain failing or dropping a class in the additional information section.
