Common Application School Forms

Ok:

Do we need to have all forms postmarked by March 1?

When do we send the "Mid-Term Report?"

Why do they expect the person sending your transcripts to know things about you? Why would it ask for a "description of academic, extracurricular, and personal characteristics..."
Isn't that what the Instructor Evaluations were for?

How much weight do they place on the Secondary School Transcripts if you are a Junior Level Transfer?

Do they need SAT Scores?

Do I send the Fee Waiver form directly to the School?

Thanks!

Yes, except for the midterm report. See below for more on that.

Depends. Most schools who want it ask for it after you get your midterm grades. Generally this means mid March to early April. However, there are some schools that don’t care about it. Beyond this if your school doesn’t release midterm grades, like mine, then many schools will only want to see your final grades. This is by no means universal though. Ultimately, you need to call up each school and see what their policy is.

I think you’re referring to the College Official’s Report. That is not like a faculty recommendation. Basically, the form is meant to show that you’re in good standing, don’t have disciplinary issues, etc… Their opinions about you are fairly rudimentary, and based off of the facts they have on you (GPA, course load, and so on). Most schools will look to your faculty recommendations to get a sense of who you are as a person.

For Junior transfers, it matters very little. Unless you have a truly horrific high school GPA, or some serious issue like an expulsion, they’re not going to care that much.

SAT scores are a little more important than your secondary school transcript. For junior transfers however, they’re no where near as important as your college record.

Normally, yes. Call the school if you’re unsure.

which school are you exactly applying to?
school like UVA said Transfer applicants are not required to summit the Common Application’s College Secondary School Report, Official Report, and Instructor Evaluation.

Evangelionn01-- I’m applying to Syracuse, Stanford, Cornell, and U Penn

Tsakashvili-- Thanks for your great reply! That cleared up mostly everything. I’m trying to have the forms out by then, it might be close though! My admissions office isn’t exactly speeding my College Official’s Report through.

Do I need to have my SAT Scores Sent directly to them by collegeboard?

Yes, the SAT I and II scores should be sent to them by Collegeboard. The same goes for any AP scores you might have, if you’re sending them

I am applying for Stanford University, but where does it say that it must be postmarked by March 1st?

^^ I’m with Extension…I don’t see anything that says ‘March 1st’ for Stanford OR Cornell. Am I missing something??

I don’t know about Stanford, but Cornell and Tufts are March 15. Don’t sweat it.
