liv –

no idea about whether to apply to Mich early, or how they choose the order of application.

Tulane – they don’t accept common app. However, they also don’t charge an application fee. The app they sent D in the mail was a one pager, with basic stats and a brief optional essay. It took no longer to complete this than the supplement for most other schools.

did your daughter attach an activities resume to the commonapp? do you know if it helps to attach one?

ummmmm – she listed all of her activities somewhere on the form, as well as interests that aren’t ECs in any traditional sense – most of her activities are pretty self-explanatory though. I don’t remember whether this was an activities resume, or just in response to one of the questions on the form.

Attaching extra things – if there’s something about you that is important but that isn’t coming through elsewhere, I’d make sure it shows up somewhere. Otherwise, for ‘normal activities’ that are already listed on the form, I don’t think it would help.

Let me give an example – let’s say that you were interested “Classic French Cooking” and that you had bought many cook books and were becoming proficient in this. I’d find some way to mention that – and it might even be a candidate for an essay topic.
