I hate to keep writing millions of essay. The emphasis of BS/MD program is to show who you are and why you should be selected. I do see lots of commonality. Can I use the BS/MD essay that I wrote and use it for the Common Apps or even in the application supplements? Has any one done this before? Does medical school read the common app/supplement as well? If this is the case, then I need to reinvent the wheel.

The BS/MD program essay is usually about why medicine and the Common App one should be where you can express something about yourself more (perhaps not even relating much to medicine). It’s not hard to write two essays, which will likely be the same two you use for all of the programs anyway.

Schritzo, the problem is, my first common app essay that I drafted for weeks is based on a personal life time incident that I witnessed in India. I do not want to sound like a cliche of compassion in both essays. I am thinking of writing entirely a new concept essay related to science fiction or focus more on my immigrant life story in USA. The common app essay has to be darn good. I will prepare a bullet point essay draft and check with my English teachers to see which prompt looks good.
