Common Data Set for 2015-2016 for the Ohio State University

The new common data set was recently posted for the 2015-2016 academic year. This contains all of the admission and enrollment information for the Class of 2019 (i.e., the freshman class entering this past Autumn 2015.). My son is a member of this year’s freshman class so i was interested in this data.
Some noteworthy info:
40,240 first-time first year freshman applicants applied (this is a record number) up from 36,788 applicants for Autumn 2014.
19,872 admitted for Autumn 2015 entering freshman class.
49% admit rate, the lowest admit rate ever for OSU.
(For comparison, the admit rates Autumn 2014, 2013 & 2012 were 53%, 55% & 63%, respectively).

7023 enrolled (35% yield).
1556 applicants were offered spot on the waitlist. 304 accepted spots and all were admitted.
GPAs were not listed.

See link at http://oaa.osu.edu/irp/publisher_surveys/IRP_2016_Survey_Main.pdf

The admit rate for men was 47%, while for women it was 52%. Wonder if they’re trying to do something about their lopsided gender ratio (currently 52% male for undergrads).

Some interesting read.
