Common employers

just wondering…which companies are brown grads often employed in? and how many grads are offered jobs upon graduation? cuz i read this article on how some students found themselves jobless after getting their degree…

I'm not sure where I heard this, but I remember hearing that the biggest employer of Brown graduates is Goldman Sachs.

the two biggest employers of brown undergrads are the peace corps and goldman sachs--both ends of the spectrum

Sorry, you are both wrong.

The biggest employer of Brown University graduates is.....Brown University.

no, that's not true

this is more general, but i'm a bit worried because i've heard that brown doesn't do as well in career placement as other ivies

You know, Dcircle, you continually criticize everything I post. You are very irritating. You are wrong.

I await your admission of defeat.

Brown does rank 3rd among the ivies in number of current undergraduate alumni that are millionaires. Yale is first with three thousand something, then Harvard with 2 thousand something, then Brown with eight hundred. The rest of the ivies didn't break the 200 mark.

Two dudes who made Mr. & Mrs.Smith were from brown
Both founders of Nantucket Nectars were brown grads
and other individuals I can't remember . . .
oh ted turner and JFK went to brown

The Brown catalog has three pages of pics and info on this stuff

but a lot of factors contribute to people becoming millionaires -- not just school, but also their parents' economic standing and things like that

this doesn't really say anything about brown's career placement success

JFK didn't go to Brown. He went to Princeton but had to leave due to an illness. Then he enrolled at Harvard and stayed. He graduated cum laude with a degree in international affairs. Later he enrolled at Stanford business school but failed out.

donkeyslap, where are those rankings?

sry, maybe it was another kennedy

didn't JFK Jr. go to Brown? Perhaps thats what the other poster intended...

Ah! You were right veni, sort of. JFK jr went to Brown. perhaps that's what you meant in the first place, in which case, I apologize.

yup he did . . .
no prob. I should have been more specific

sorry for the knee-jerk criticism GH, you're right

the link you posted is the 2003 data

i was talking about my class which was 2004. still, given the sample size, i'd imagine that eventhough the top ten probably doesn't change much their ranking must fluctuate.

Thats probably true.

A yale coach sent them to me.

this is a pretty good sampling of what brown students eventually end up doing in various fields and sectors (not just recent graduates)
