Common supplementary essay for bowdoin

500 - 600 words good enough?
Thank you :)

it should probably be less than 500 words.
supplementary essays are usually shorter than the commonapp primary essay

ahh thx :-)

They didn't give us a specific length because they don't really care how long it is. Just make sure you communicate what you want to. I don't think they'd be thrilled if it was longer than 800 words-- but if it has to be that long, I wouldn't worry about it.

Im wondering how to go about writing this... "Describe what you expect your academic journey at Bowdoin to include"

tell them what ur interested in

1) what u wanna learn
2) what u plan on doing with that knowledge afterward

Now while bobow98's advice is good, be careful not to interpret it as saying you should lay out your entire future plans.

Part of the whole culture here is the idea of Bowdoin being a liberal arts school, where you can learn about a variety of topics. They don't necessarily want someone who is totally focused on a single path in life. My essay discussed how I'm interested in Science, but wanted to focus on a variety of subjects to enhance the science curriculum, etc.

If you have an academic interest, share it, and explain why Bowdoin's learning environment might be ideal for you. But I'd be hesitant to explain how you're going to take courses A, B, C, and D, go to grad school E, get internship F, and retire at the age of 34.

I talked about the community/atmosphere/professors type of thing. Would that be considered not answering the question? I'm not quite sure if that would apply to academic journey or not... I don't know what I want to study nor do I know what I'd do with the knowledge in the future... which is why I'm looking more into liberal arts colleges?
