Ok so I'm pretty much done with filling out the Commonapp but one thing I'm completely unsure of is the Additional Info section. One of my biggest accomplishments so far is that I won 1st in state (out of 10000 peeps) with the TN Washington Youth Tour Essay competition. Would it be appropriate to upload the creative essay I wrote for college admins to read, or would it be a waste of their time? It's exactly 900 words and I think could help me in the admission process because it did win me $3300, got to meet congressional reps., and my group leader is writing a rec for me about the trip and how awesome I am and such. So would it help to upload and give a brief statement as to why its there?
Thanks!

I’m not sure if uploading the essay is necessary, but you should definitely note that you won “so and so” in the awards section.

Also, you might want to look into the policies of the colleges you are looking at. It might vary from school to school.

Not sure… I used my “additional info” section to explain my family situation (extra step-siblings and adopted brother) and that I attended a summer program at a university, but didn’t receive college credit for it.

That being said, definitely note the award under the awards section, though I’m not sure about submitting the actual essay…
