<p>I'm wondering how long my CommonApp essay should be. It's 700 words right now, and I think it should be 1000+ if it's going to cover everything that I need it to. Every word counts; it's not wordy or windy. I know that the minimum is 250. </p>

<p>1,000+ is definitely on the long side. Try to see if you can rework some parts of it…</p>

<p>Anywhere from 500 to 800 is the norm. However, if every single sentence says something unique about you and everything is as concise as can be, there is no maximum word limit. Just remember that adcoms have limited time and every extra word they have to read in your essays means less time spent on the rest of your application.</p>
