<p>What commonapp are you referring to? TABS? SSAT? If I remember correctly, most individual school have an upper limit of between 300 and 500 words. Be sure to check that the schools you are interested in accept a common app. Many of the top do not. Some accept them, but require a supplement.</p>

<p>But I would just say use reasonable judgement. Don’t write 5 pages but don’t write one paragraph. Write enough to convey your message. If I were you, I would write between 250 and 500.</p>
