I was wondering if it would be a good idea to talk about my love of music and piano, and how that has allowed me to gain confidence in myself and my abilities, and given me experience with performing, especially because I’m an extremely shy person. Or would that be too boring?
I think it is a serviceable topic. Probably not great for top schools, though. Specific stories are good.
Thank you for your advice! I was thinking of doing a specific story about one of my performances and then include some explanation. By “top schools” do you mean Ivy League colleges alone, or any type of college with a low admissions rate (i.e. 20-30%).
Your topic sounds fine to me. I’d recommend you start off by outlining or doing a rough draft of your essay. IMO how you write the essay and what you say is way more important than the topic.
I was hoping that part would be more important, as I have already written a veeeeery rough draft. I will definitely have to make some major edits because it’s not where I would like to be. Thank you for the input, happy1:)
