<p>I have two topics in mind, need comments about which one is better:</p>

<p>1) There is a guy who always beats me in math competitions by one spot for five years. Motivates to study math really hard. Eventually I beat him. </p>

<p>2) How math contests changed me. The story of how I went from being national champ at a young age to an average joe. Then how I went back to being top notch. (might sound a little too egotistic, don't know if it's a risk)</p>

<p>The second topic sounds more interesting and doesn’t have to be egotistical, especially if you focus on what you learned while being an “average joe” rather than your relentless quest to get back on top of the math heap.</p>
