CommonApp from India - Rather a puzzle!

After reading numerous blogs, threads and articles, my mind is blowing up!
The verdict is CommonApp is damn abstruse.

So friends, i would appreciate you if you all could help me out.

Brief About me: I am from India, in 11th grade, CBSE board, changed school after 10th.

Now, the real situation, elaborated in terms of questions:-

1.) In the high school transcript, i.e the School Report, the marks of 9,10,11 only to be included, right? But how they shall be converted to a pertinent form for the CommonApp. (This question is the protagonist of the Puzzle).

2.) How do I get the class rank in 10th - I had given a boards exam. And then in other classes like 11th, can the school enter any favorable rank? as per them doing it deliberately?

3.) Can the present school (11th, 12th) prepare a combined report of 9th and 10th which I had attended in other school.

4.) What else is important/must-know about CommonApp and Applications to any US college?

5.) Whats your best say on getting the highest marks in SAT?

I would be highly thankful for your responses.

You will get more input if you post in the India forum from people who are currently applying. Search for India Thread 21 or so which is the latest.

The school needs to create a transcript for you with end of the term grades for each semester or year. If you have been in the same school over that period, it is easy but if you have been moving around this becomes difficult. Some schools which routinely send students to US may have this already. If your school has not sent anyone to US, then it is good you are starting out early so you can start talking to the school officials.

your board exam rank is not relevant. Your school may be able use your marks on it to give you an arbitrary rank if they please if they do not keep track of ranks.

It should be possible for them to combine the grades while mentioning that you came from another school after 10th.

You also need to get the school to create a school profile. What is important to list is how the students are graded, what happens to them after they graduate (where do they go for college, what careers they get into), may be they can add some input on how they do on school ending exams.

SAT scores are percentile rankings and so the higher the better.
