CommonApp: Parent's education?

Looking at the common app's parent info section, I ran across a little problem. My parents attended college/graduate school in a foreign country. When they came to America, the degrees from the universities in the foreign country held little weight, so they attended college in the US too (Dad went to Texas A&M and mom went to Texas Tech).

Now, do I put the universities they attended back in their homeland or the colleges they attended in America on the common app form? There doesn't seem to be enough space for multiples.

If both are acceptable, which one SHOULD I list (the foreign universities or the American colleges)? Would foreign universities make adcoms think diversity? Clearly A&M/Tech don't really help much in terms of getting into HYPS (which are my top choices) -- they show that I'm not a first generation and that I don't have legacy.

use the foreign colleges

use whichever. the purpose of putting down parents’ alma maters is to identify legacies

^^^And first gen status, and SES.

However, you are not first gen whichever way you report it, as it doesn’t matter where your parents went to college, it all counts.

If you can’t put multiples, you should put the college where they got their highest degree. If they got the same degree in the US as outside, just pick one, it won’t make much difference since either way, you aren’t first gen and you aren’t a legacy.

does it matter if you cant find teh CEEB code for the college your parents attended? Both my parents colleges (foreign countries) don’t have a code whenever I search it up–is that okay?
