Hi. I'm applying to about 10 schools with the Commonapp, but I'm not sure how to go about getting teacher evaluations for all of them. Here's a bunch of questions that I have: Are teacher evaluations required for all the schools on the Commonapp? Do I have to get a teacher to fill out an evaluation for each of the 10 schools or can they just use one and photocopy it for the others or something of that nature? Should I ask more than two teachers or depend on the same two teachers to do the lot of 'em? How does the postage / mail deal work? What if they send it before or after I submit my Commonapp essays? Is it ok if the teacher evaluations arrive after the application deadline? I think most of them are Jan. 15th ... I'm entirely lost, please help!

I would suggest checking with each school you are applying to. They all have varying requirements concerning teacher recs. This includes varying teacher rec. postmark deadlines. For example, most of my schools require recs. to be in 1/1 which is also the app. deadline. However, schools, such as UVA, ask for the app to be in 1/3, but recs. have a 1/10 deadline. You should check out each of your school's websites (trust their sites over the Common App's information about that school).

As for asking teachers...you can ask for a recommendation letter (the more common choice) which they can photocopy and send out to many schools, using the stamped & addressed envelopes you will provide them with. OR you can have them fill out the teacher evaluation form. I have not used this form before, so I am not sure about photocopying and sending it out, but I think it's okay to do that (it is the "Common" App.), but double check on that.

So even if I use the CommonApp, my teachers don't have to use the CommonApp evaluation forms?
