CommonApp Teacher Invite

So I invited recommending teachers , the status says invited. When I asked teachers, they said they got the invite but they can't upload rec letter till they are assigned? Is this true? I thought once you invite them, the e-mail gets sent, teachers can create the account and they can upload the rec letter. You should be then able to assign as many colleges as you want within common app.

Do you have to assign them to each of the colleges? I still don't understand once you invite, teachers should be able to upload the rec letter.

You do have to assign them to at least one school. You can continue to assign them to more (before or after they upload).

Thanks niceday

I invited them about 2 weeks ago. Today I assigned them to one of the colleges in my list. Will they get new e-mail or they won’t get any new mail since they got one when I had invited them?

Do teachers know which colleges you are applying to?

Please select one:
I waive my right to review all recommendations and supporting documents submitted by me or on my behalf.
I DO NOT waive my right to review all recommendations and supporting documents submitted by me or on my behalf.

I had waived my right to access. Shouldn’t the radio button infront of first option should be dotted? I don’t see dot in 1st option neither in 2nd option. You should be able to see your selection at aleast in one of the option.

Teachers will not get a new email when you assign them to more schools and won’t see the schools where you are applying.

If you are able to assign recommenders, than you have properly made a selection on the FERPA waiver. You only answer the FERPA waiver one time and your answer to that question is then locked and the original answer applies to all your recommendations.

Okay through common app, once the teacher completes Rec Letter, you should be able to assign that to as many colleges as you want as long as they are part of common App.

How do you send the rec letters to schools outside of CA?

If the school isn’t using the Common App they will have their own process for recommendation letters. In our case (University of Maryland) they have their own form to fill out and return. I believe we have them return to our school counselor who will give us the sealed envelope to mail.

for One the teacher, the status shows “Submitted”. Does that mean they have uploaded the letter?

Submitted means the teacher has completed the full recommendation online. The teacher’s rec is done and once you submit your app to that school the school will be able to download it.
