Can you loft beds for freshman dorms? Inquiring minds want to know

Yes you can. You can go on YouTube and they will show you how.

Yes. A lot of people do. It’s a great way to maximize space even if you do get one of the newer houses.

Thanks! Y’all are the best!

I would highly recommend flipping over to the discussion entitled “Current Vandy Freshman” which on pages 4-9 of the topic have great insight into the dorms, the lofting, how to do it, what’s available etc. There are some great parents and current students helping folks out on these types of issues.

Have anybody received the common summer book?

elerry3, The Road to Vanderbilt announced the book…

College: What It Was, Is, and Should Be
by Andrew Delbanco

Are they sending the book?

There used to be a youtube video on nothing but lofting the beds provided in the Commons. There are permutations for all…more than one way to raise the beds. At Duke we had to pay for lofted beds from 3rd party sources and then either take them apart and haul home (we could do this as we were 3 hours away) or toss in a discard pile at the end of the year or sell (what kids from far away had to do). This is a good system at Vandy.

elerry3–don’t quote me on this but I recall that my D got the book in the mail “free” from Vanderbilt during the summer in plenty of time to skim thru it before classes started.

Thank you LHSCary. This our first going to college.

elerry3–You’re welcome Please feel free to ask any questions you have, there are plenty of parents of current and recently graduated Vandy students who have good advice for first time parents. (Faline2 always is spot on with her advice, look for her posts.) It’s a scary and confusing time :-)

Eleery3, the Road to V says they will be sent this month…the VU2017 Facebook page says they should be received by mid-month. My first going to college too!

Eleery3 and MommyDearest13 - It’s my first and only going to college. It is definitely an experience. HS graduation is tomorrow night and S will finally allow me to talk about what needs to get done to get him ready to go. He’s been focused on finishing his last semester. He had assignments due this week. I could not believe it.
