Does anyone know how strong the film studies and communications majors are at Tulane? thank you.

I'm actually the president of the Communication Majors Society and I strongly urge all the incoming freshman to take a class in the department (maybe we can sway you into being a Comm major). In my opinion, The faculty is top-notch and I never have any doubt in my mind that I chose the right major. TONS of networking opportunities through the faculty and some pretty well-known professors as far as academia is concerned. As far as "strong" - the major is what you make of it - I ran for President as sort of a joke my sophomore year and now I'm super-involved with everything and have had a bunch of opportunities I wouldn't have less I got myself involved. With Communication, it's always going to be more about who you know and what you can do rather than your grades. The classes can only prepare you so much, and I think this is where Tulane succeeds especially in this department - helping students beyond the classroom.

I don't know too much about film studies, but I have taken two courses with Professor Esch (he's the film studies expert-guy) and the classes are excellent. I still have some time left, so I might try to tack on a Film Studies minor as well. . .I'm just not sure of the requirements or any of that.

bump...anymore opinions?
