I was accepted into both UCLA and BU and I plan to major in Mass Communications: Advertising/Public Relations. BU gave me a $23,000 grant and UCLA gave me nothing. With the grant from BU, my annual expenses for both colleges total to about $25,000. Basically, both schools cost about the same for me right now. Which one should I go to? Which one has a stronger communications program?

I’d narrow it down on preference to cities. I think I’d choose BU, just because it would be the opposite of what I’m accustomed to with California in terms of weather.

UCLA is a stronger school than BU.

UCLA is the better school in terms of education, but u should also look at other factors. they are on opposite coasts and so which weather do u prefer and so on.

keep in mind that at UCLA you enter a pre comm-studies major; you are not guaranteed admission to the major. You have to apply in the spring quarter. Also you should take a look at the average class size for the major (and in general) at the 2 schools, the advising program, and housing.

I’ve heard that the comm major in UCLA is really competitive to get into. Does that mean if I don’t get accepted into that major in the spring quarter, I’m pretty much screwed at UCLA? What are you suppose to do if you can’t get into the major you want there?

Since money isn’t the issue, just go where you want to go. UCLA is probably more prestigious, but if you want to go to BU go there. However, if you are dreaming of working in the TV business or something, I’d stay in LA.

I don’t think it’s too competitive, as long as you keep your grades up.
