I currently a student at Towson University. Basically it was my only choice in school as I like the area far more than CP and wanted a large in state school. I was considering possibly transferring to UMD but wanted to know about the communications school there. I want to know if anyone had any insight to how the communications program is at UMD and how difficult it is to get into.

It’s in the College of Arts and Humanities, and I believe there is no application process to get into that college besides the one to get into the university in the first place.

any information on the program itself. How good is the communiciations major. Daughter wants to go into publishing, magazines, writing. I understand it probably doesnt compare to the Syracuse program but any comments on it?

I’m almost positive it is ranked in the top 20 in the country.

JSIMON, magazines and writing is a really a Journalism major, not Communications. The Journalism school at UMCP is highly regarded. It’s also an LEP, which means you need to gain admission to not just the university but also the Journalism school (no extra application is needed). It’s a great program, and it just got a brand new, state-of-the-art building last year.
