Communications Major

I was thinking of majoring in communications but I wanna know what I'm getting into first-- as in course load, what I'm going to be studying, and what I could do with it after college. And anything else that is really important in this major that I couldn't necessarily find through online research.

Anyone wanna help ease some of my confusion?
It'd be greatly appreciated.

I am also interested in this topic. From what I have read, with a few notable exceptions COM tends to be a fluff major. One current NYU student enrolled in their COM program described it as “full or sororstitutes who want to be the next Samantha”. Don’t flame me for this statement, I am just quoting what I was told.

The notable exceptions seem to be Penn, USC, and UCLA, possibly Syracuse. Anyone care to contribute their own experiences?

P.S. Generic boards such as this one are rarely visited by current students, it may be better to go on LiveJournal and post your question on the boards of specific schools that you are interested in. It elicits lively responses…
