Communications Major

I think this is the major i might want to study when going to college. reason is b/c i have researched it for a while now and it seems to have opportunities in some of my interest such as radio, television, and music. They also have wide verity of things you can do w/ this major. this site shows all the things you can do w/ this major.

What career opportunities are with a communication degree

and i'm quite interested and majoring in communications. but before i make that final decision and decide this is what i'm going to college for i want to know. what are people w/ communications usually like ive seen in this forum that they say its useless and its for athletes and very social and good looking people. Now i don't want to sound insecure but i kind of lack in the very social and good looking part and i'm definitely not an athlete lol. but i'm sure i'm willing to change a bit in the future.

also another question would be since there are a lot of majors w/ communications. which one is the one that let's you go into a lot of fields of careers. is Communications/Rhetoric or something else.

For those who may be wondering i am 17 and a senior in HS

don’t ignore or do a certain major because of being compared to the “type of people” who do that major

some would argue that there are actually not jobs for communications majors. It just depends on what you’d like to go into and what you’re concentrating in. Really there can be jobs for anything, you just have to be creative and possibly be willing to relocate.

I’m in a radio/film/tv type program, and it’s freaking awesome! I LOVE it!

A tip for college searching: try different ways to word the majors. Some colleges will call a radio/tv/film program Mass Communications, while in others it’s just Communications, while in others it’s considered as Journalism, or Media Production, or Media Technologies, or simple Film Production, TV production, etc.
