Communications School

Is it easy to switch majors within the Communications school?

Does anyone know the rankings for top undergraduate communication schools?

Syracuse with a lot of money, or Northwestern with some money? – or Cornell with a decent amount of money?

and for the second part i meant which one should i go to?

I got into the radio/tv/film at SOC and am very excited! I also got accepted at Middlebury and Vassar, which will make my decision much more difficult. Would I be crazy to turn down this offer at NU for one of the other schools?? I really want to do film and then maybe business someday. I feel like I would be foolish turning down NU with all of the alumni that get big coming out of there… any views?

I posed the same question on the Cornell forum. Here’s how they responded:

Any thoughts?

If you are planning to go to a law school anyway, just consider the school that’s known for what you are interested in or the one that fits you the best. I am pretty sure Northwestern offers more in comm studies. After all, Northwestern has a communications school, not just department. Look at the description of courses and confirm.

EDIT: I just saw your earlier post. I don’t buy that “difference in structure” claim. Cornell has specialized schools like hotel admin or architecture. It’s just communications isn’t one of them. I think you overanalyzed and idealized Cornell a bit too much. This is like saying UChicago’s film is just as good as USC’s or Northwestern’s international studies is as good as Georgetown’s SFS because it’s just structural difference.

By drop, do you mean get a 3.5? Very possible.

In my opinion, you do have to work hard, but it’s very possible to get that and still have a good social life/free time to do other things.
