Community College and then Harvard afterwards

I am a rising sophomore who has screwed up their freshman year of high school so far.

This is my horrible transcript. However I still have dreams of attending Harvard, MIT, or CalTech. I am probably no longer in the running to compete for a place at these schools and they probably don't want to financially aid another poor kid, so that is a burden on their shoulders. These schools have the best physics departments in the world and that is why I really want to attend them. I guess I really want to become an Aerospace engineer after completing my higher education. Since I don't have the money and the grades, do you think community college is my best option? I could load up on all the math and science courses that I want to take and maybe transfer to these schools. Has anyone else on here done this? Everything from high school would be out of the question. However I don't know if any of these schools are keen on accepting transfer students.

You are a sophomore, you really shouldn’t be worrying about whether or not to attend community college yet. By the time you are a senior you will most likely realize that Harvard, MIT, and CalTech aren’t the only good schools in the country and happily attend another institution.

Do some homework, check the Common Data Sets for schools to see their transfer rates. For highly selective colleges, coming from a CC is even harder as you will be competing in a transfer applicant pool with many students from top publics and privates.

First off, your transcript isn’t horrible. It’s fine. Stop being so hard on yourself. And you can always raise it in your last 3 years also.
