If you take a class at a community college, does it count as a “5” in your GPA? For example, if I took Spanish 3 at a community college, do I still get a 5 even though its the same as a third year highs chool Spanish class…

Any transferable JC class will count as 5 for an A or 4 for a B .. etc.

A JC class counts as one semester and when applying to the UCs only 8 semesters of honor(Honor, AP, College) type classes will receive and extra GPA point.

So you might find that when comparing against some of your friends your UC GPA can be lower than your friend Jon even if you have all A's and he has a couple of B's but he doesnt have as many honor type classes.
If this happens dont worry because its much better to have those extra classes even if you aren't receiving an extra pointfor them.

hmm...if UCs really cap your gpa at 8 semesters, then how do people have UC GPAs of 4.4-4.5ish...I guess it would be possible if they got all As...

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I have a similar situation and would like to know more.

Has the UCs changed their GPA system so they +1 all honors/AP/community college courses? I know before they used to only increase a set amount maximum, but I heard that they are now going to weigh all classes; is this true?

No, it is not true.
