Hey I'm going to be a soph next year. I'm currently a UCLA student, and I'm taking two courses at a community college close to where I live. Can the grades that I get in these courses affect my UCLA GPA? Is there any way I can make it?? I've heard from so many people that it's just pass/fail. Thank you.

Nope. Transferred grades are not factored into your UCLA GPA. You only get credit for taking the class and units (in most cases,) assuming you pass.

Ok I see. What if I request the transcript? A letter grade will still appear right?

In order to transfer the class you must submit a transcript to UCLA. Even if they see your grade, it isn’t counted in your UCLA GPA.

Additionally, on your UCLA transcript, the letter grade for your transferred class will not appear.

I’m not sure why you’re asking but, if you’re concerned about applying to graduate/professional programs, don’t be. When you apply to these programs, you must submit transcripts from ALL colleges you attended so, they’ll see the grades on the CC transcripts.

Oh ok, that’s why I was asking, yeah.

this goes for classes transferred from 4 year universities, right?

Yes. Not counted for UCLA GPA. Grad school will see it when you submit all transcripts from all colleges.

Do grad schools calculate their own gpa? If so are CC grades included in it?
