Community College courses?

I've been hearing my friends talk about taking community college courses over the summer..

What is the purpose/advantage of taking a community college course in regards to college admissions/courses? I heard you can "dock off classes" in college with these classes.. Any information is helpful!

And right now, I'm debating between taking a Psychology course or an Environmental Science course (neither are offered at my high school); which should I take? (I'm aiming for a career in the medical field (or is this irrelevant))..

You can choose to do dual-enrollment (which you take a course and it counts for college and high school credit).

Or you can take a few college classes, and it counts for college credit.
It can help in college admissions since colleges can see you can handle college level work.

Um…which one do you like better? Psychology is closer to “medical-y” fields, so that’s probably a good choice.
