Does UA give credit for dual enrollment courses, esp. those of OOS CCs?

yes in my case they did.

YES! My son got credit at Bama for all of his dual enrollment classes except for Geology. That reminds me of a question. My DS took a whole year of DC Geology but the teacher had the option of teaching only 1 semester of college Geology during that year. That is what he chose, so my DS’s transcript only shows 1 semester of Geology credit. That is the only class Bama did not add as credit on DegreeWorks. Should I contact someone or would it not make sense to take the second semester of Geology at Bama?

do they accept credit from OOS CCs? and do they accept credit that is also used towards HS?

yes to both for my DD.

I took all sorts of community college classes in OOS hs and each class transferred (some only as elective credit). Even if the courses are on your hs transcript, they will still transfer. IMHO, UA’s dual enrollment credit policies, along with those for AP, IB, and CLEP tests are some of the most generous you will find anywhere. I ended up transferring over 75 hours of credit into UA.

bamafana, sometimes the person who assesses transfer credit does not receive the info about dual enrollment courses that is necessary to know how to transfer the credit until August/September. Still, I would recommend calling your son’s college and talking to the person who does transfer credit.

Thanks SEA_tide. I will call Monday. I agree that Bama is VERY generous in credit for AP/DC classes. My OOS DS’s dual credit classes came thru a local community college. No problem with anything other than this geology thing…Gonna work on that!
