Community College in California

Hi, I'm an international student planning on attending a CC in California.
I plan to transfer to a 4 year university after, possibly majoring in Biochem or Foodsci.
I'm assuming all community colleges have the same academic qualities, right (correct me if I'm wrong)? But how are the extracurricular activities, honors programs, clubs, athletics, student government, etc?
I'm also hoping that I will not need to drive there and just easily take public transport. So I'm looking for a CC and housing where it's easy to get around.

So far, I'm considering Santa Monica and Diablo (but I'm open to other options). Honestly, I don't have a clue which CC is most suitable for me. Those two are recommendations from family and friends.

Would you please tell me your opinion on which CC I should attend? Thanks in advance...

Pretty much any community college will do, but just keep in mind that pretty much no matter where you go, public transportation is going to suck. If you are going to be spending several years in California, it might be worth it to get a drivers license and buy a used car.

Be sure to check the ratemyprofessors website when choosing classes. The instructor is what will make or break you.

Definitely use rate my professor. It’s a LIFESAVER sometimes.

Also, depending on your finances you might want to also look into the cost of living of the places you’re looking at. When I was going to move to California, I was a little shocked at how much more expensive St. Monica seemed than Pasadena.

Definitely look into getting a car.
