Does anyone know when the grade will show on the transcript if I complete an online class early? Does it show on the transcript as soon as the teacher posts the grade or does it wait until the end of the semester to show? Thanks.

I probably speak for a lot of people when I say I’m confused - are you asking about a specific community college and how they post their own grades, or how it will show up on your UT transcript?

I am planning to take classes at Austin Community College this fall and apply as a transfer student for the spring semester. A couple of them will be offered online. I just wonder if the grades will show on the transcript sooner if I finish the online classes before December. I am hoping to raise my GPG to 3.5 so that I have a good chance to be accepted.

If you finish the class early but it is scheduled to run the full semester (or 12 weeks, etc.) your grades will not be posted until after the semester ends for the rest of the class. Is that what you were asking?

You’d have to finish very early though, because the spring app deadline is October 1st, and none of the semester options run like that. However, you have until January 15th to submit updated transcripts, so you could apply on time and then submit a new transcript after grades have been posted in December.

It’s whenever they report the grade, which will probably be at the end of the semester. I’m done with my online class already and my grade has not been reported, and the instructors usually wait until the end to report just like a normal class. Maybe when you’re all done you could e-mail the instructor asking if he could report it earlier.

OK. I will ask the instructor if it can be posted earlier otherwise I will submit whatever I have and submit an updated transcript after December. Do you think UT will deny my application based on what I’ve already earned instead of waiting until December to make the decision. My GPA is 3.37 now and I know it’s low. I am hoping to raise it to 3.5 next semester.

Depends on what major/school you’re trying to get into. They might ask to wait and see your fall grades, or they could reject it and then you could try to appeal with the new transcript.

It might help if you’re a ACC Honors student, as well. Of course the process isn’t official, but it’s rumored that Honors students get an extra boost during review (i.e. they rank everyone by GPA and then start making adjustments based on honors, etc.). This could also vary by school/major, but couldn’t hurt.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will explore the possibility of becoming honor student at ACC but it may be too late since I will be a new student this fall.

You can get in based off one of several things, and it’s rolling admissions: austincc.edu/honors

Thanks sundoll, thanks for letting me know. I will look into it.

I am planning to apply to COLA. I don’t know if they will reject me or wait for my fall transcript. I graduated from HS last year from one of the top school districts in Dallas suburb, barely missed the top 10% mark, got accepted to A&M but decided to take UT’s CAP option. I did not study at all the first semester after gaining my full freedom and did poorly the first semester. I tried harder this semester but couldn’t make 3.2 GPA. I do have some dual credits and my overall GPA is 3.37. I am very determined to go to UT and will try my best to make it to the spring semester. My younger sister got accepted to UT this year. I am so happy for her since she has been working hard and does deserve it.

is there a list of clases that you can take online?

I haven’t checked if there is a list of online class but I am pretty sure there is. I think I will take 15 credit hours and if I try hard it will bring my GPA to 3.5. Hopefully I will have the chance of being accepted to COLA. If not, I will try again.
