I'm planning to start college in Fall 2012, but may attend community college first and then transfer to a local state uni. I have talked to alumni of the 4 year uni and they have said that the Big 4 actively recruit there and that there's a club/fraternity dedicated to networking with the Big 4. There's even a PwC and E&Y building just a couple blocks from the campus.

Sooo, would the Big 4 be discriminatory if they knew I attended a community college first and then transfered to the state uni, or typically does it not matter so long as I have the GPA and some decent prior exp and internships? I think I've read before that community college students can apply for intern/externships with the Big 4 just as the traditional university students can. Is there some truth to that?

When you transfer into the university, you will be pursuing a degree from that institution. A degree is a degree, regardless of where you started. Do well wherever you go, and you will be in the same boat as everyone else applying for jobs. You will probably also have less debt than others since community college is so much less expensive!

I went the community college route and transferred to my state uni. In my first semester at my state school I interviewed for summer internships and got one with EY it doesn’t matter that you start at a CC. As long as your gpa is high and you have some ECs you will be ok.
